Whooaaa!

Taidekuja/ Artists alley- event is being held for the first time tomorrow (17.11.2013) at Kulttuuriareena Gloria, helsinki. The event starts at 10:00 and lasts till 18:00. I'm going to be there selling some jewelry, decoden and all sorts of cool stuff. I can't wait!!!

Fanfest feedback

It's feedback time!

I was quite busy the weekend as Artists alley seemed to be full of people most of the time . I didn't eaven get to take pictures of my cosplay since I had to take the wig of because of a major headache. Eighter way it really doesn't matter. 

I had too much fun to really care :D

The Artists alley was-- well.. full of people. Still, given the crampiness of the space, everybody was very nice and realized to ask if they needed to get trough. I really enjoyed the variety of artists and the cheerful atmosphear.. 

And a big thank you for the people on each side of our table: MissAntura & Arlmuffin (I don't know their real names..) And Papermonkey who is infact one of my favourite artists. Ever.

The only downside of the event was the difficulties of paying the table (I'm still not quite sure if it's settled or not..) and the fact that our seller info wasn't updated on Fanfests Artists alley site as promised.

But I'll overlook it since it was such a nice convention.
 Again next year, please?

Fanfest 2013

It's been ages since I last updated my blog. Again.

I'm going to be at Artists Alley at Fanfest 5.-6.10.2013. 

Hopefully I'll have time to post some pictures of the stuff I have at our table since I finaly made fanart themed items to sell. Mostly jewelry tough..

As for cosplay, I'm going to do the super stylish Photo Finish (Human ver.) from My little pony- Friendship is magic.

So fabulous..

It's my first real female character cosplay so I'm a little nervous..

I bought a vest from a fleamarket for my beloved for our annieversary, eaventough I knew it was too plain for her liking since she's really into the cute japanese gal style. 

So my mission was to make Fab from Drab.

Steaming!

I found a plain, brown skirt from the 'Free of charge market' at Recycling Factory held this year on 4. – 5.5.2013. 

(Yeah, it's been a long while since the actual event, but I haven't had the time to post this). 

Still, seeing some potential in it I took it with me as I decided to try to transform it into a Steampunk skirt.

This is how it looked..

The skirt in itself was still in good shape. Eaven the zipper was still intact and working like new. No holes, tears or smudges were on the skirt so I'm quessing it was the overall shape of it and the weird lenght (Low calf, but not ankle lenght eighter).

So I started to style it with pins.. (back)

 After shaping the skirt, I took out my sewing machine and secured the places the pins were holding together with a few back and forth stitches. I also wanted to add buttons to the sides as if they were holding the layers of fabric up.

My button box that I got from my mom. She told me she had once gotten chocolates in it..

The hem of the skirt rised quite much so I had to shorten the lining as well so it wouldn't flash from under the dress as I walk. I really love the way it looks now!

Finncon is over and man, was it fun! Thank you all <3

And then there was one of the greatest outfits I've seen in conventions.. This Dinosaur!

..I mean wow. Just look at that!

It was huge and tried to eat people! Most of the people at Artists Alley (expecially the artists) ran outside to see it. There was also a Ghostbusters gang who chased two little ghosts. It was so much fun~

All and all it was a great con. I wish they'd hold more conventions in helsinki..

Finncon 2013

Wow! All of a sudden we (me and Meg) have an Artists' Alley table at Finncon 5.-7.7.2013.. 

This was a really quick decision as I had forgotten that it was being held this month, but luckily we got ourselves a table. I'm not sure if either of us will cosplay any certain characters, but I'm hoping I'll finish my lolita skirt (Yes, you red it correctly).

It's been already two weeks from Desucon and only now I'm updating about it.. Yeah, I'm a slow blogger. Or just lazy?

Anywoof!

The convention was awesome as usual. Thank yous belong to the people who visited our table, the organizers and of course the cons attenders. Special thanks for everyone at the Cookie decorating workshop.. The last hour was hilarious!

 Also thank you all, who wanted to take a picture of my LoK- Mako cosplay. Expecially that young girl who fell into a conversation with me about the series. Cons need people like you! <3

Making Mako, Le Shoes

Yes. The shoes are DONE! *insert victory fanfare here*

In just one day I made the patters, cut the fabric and sew the spats.. 

And painted the shoes partly black (since they were actually shoes from my Vocaloid Ted Kasane cosplay).

I also cut my hair today with the help of my beloved Meg. She also helped me to color it.. black. I've never had black hair before so it's kinda strange. The darkest color I've had is my natural color, witch is sort of grey brown.. It's weird to look in the mirror at the moment.

This sums it up pretty well.. I have quite thick hair. And head.

I still have some things to do, but I'm still eagerly waiting for tomorrow.

 Desucon, I am ready!

Making Mako

Desucon is 14.-16.6.13. This. Weekend. 

It came so sudden eaventough I've been waiting for it a few months.. But I haven't been slacking, oh no. 

I have been making items to sell in the convention. Usually I've been on Artist's Alley, but this year we're going to try our luck in the Exhibition Hall (suom. myyntisali) so it's  a bit different this time around.

I've also been trying to finish my Mako (Avatar- Legend of Korra) cosplay. Actually I only have the shoes left unfinished so it's all good.

Day 1: Materials and lineart of the outfit. I usualy draw the outfit I am doing as it helps me to think about the sewing process.

Day 2: I dyed a white fabric with tea. The plain white was too Bright!

Days 2-3: Sewing the jacket

It was weird to start sewing after a long time. I tought I would be struggling with the seams and well-- everything else, but supricingly it all came to me as I sat down by the machine and started to sew.

 Of course there were errors, there are always some, but I allowed myself to make them. Normaly I would've tossed the sewing machine to the floor ( I nearly have already), cursed myself to the lowest pit of hell and stormed into a secluded corner to cry, hating my guts.. 

Yes, that was my Perfectionism taking a form. And I really don't want to go back to feeling like that again. That is why I am doing this self- examination process.

Day 4: Making the knots and finishing it up... Ugh, I hate my camera.

Day 5: The pants and the scarf. I actually cut a pair of my old pants to make them into knickerbockers. Quick and easy~

The black gloves I already had so that saved my time aswell. Now it's just me and the shoes.. 

I'm trying to keep up a good mood eaventough stress of the event is building fast, but I'll try to do my best!

Now, I need some sleep...

Killing the colors

  Since I've been trying to tackle the obstacles within my mind I find it somewhat easier to start making things again.. Getting there, bit by bit. It's a slow process but I really want to get trough it so.. I'll manage!

And I know I should be focusing on deciding a cosplay for Desucon 2013 next month (Yeah. I haven't eaven decided it yet 100%..) but I wanted to share this project I've been doing~

The Bleaching! It's amazing what you can do with just bleach and inspiration. (Ok, I did use some rivets and fabric paint, but you get the idea.)

Bleaching is such a fun and an easy way to upsycle some of your clothes, but remember to wash your bleached clothing before you wear it since bleach may irritate your skin so be careful and always use gloves. Also to get the result you want you should test the bleach on the cloth you want to alter since bleach reacts differently to all fabrics since it "eats" the color off.

 So let the transformation begin!

I'm not perfect

There's a whole lot of issues running trough my head these days and trying to find an appartment isn't making it any easier. At the moment I'm also trying to discover a way to work on my Perfectionism.

I think that's my worst obstacle, since there's no such thing as a perfect person.

Being perfect is just something that's planted in our heads since we're little. We keep trying and trying to get there and get disapointed and angry with ourselves because we'll never be good enough. And that causes anxieties and stress. Atleast that's how it is with me. I'm not good at giving myself any credit for a job well done or being proud of what I have accomplished..

Since I've started to acknowledge it, I have actually started to create again and finishing old projects of mine. Earlier I've been scared to eaven start doing things as I am put down by the fear they'll never be good enough. But I have set my own standarts ridiculously high and failure has never been an option to me.
I realize that now..

I still get discouraged easily at some days, but I want to feel the joy of making things and finishing them eaventough they might not be the best of their kind, but atleast I've tried my best and had fun while doing it.

And that is amazing! Hopefully a new start for the better..

Suki- Avatar the Last Airbender

A good example: The first backround of this picture failed and Sukis' hair suddenly got some weird splatter marks on it. I felt devastated and I tought I wouldn't eaven want to see this picture ever again. I was couraged by my lover to just make a new backround and try to color over the splatters... After a while, I did. And this backround was so much better! And the splatters are gone. I did it!
And it felt so good to finish this drawing and I dare to say that I am proud of it.
Sometimes eaven a mistake can be a good thing.

And Abracadabra! I'm changing the language of my blog from Finish to English.

Simply because english is just so much easier for me to write.. ^_^'  But don't worry If there's something important I want to say I'll be sure to write it both english and finish.

I got an amazing lollipop (?) from my darling the otherday. I know, I know: It's just sugar, but I cannot resist something so cute and pink.. <3

Tämän vuoden Desucon Frostbite oli aivan upea! Kiitos siitä kuuluu mahtavalle Conitealle ja mukaville kävijöille. Ja sain kuin sainkin Rin cosplayni valmiiksi! Peruukki onnistui mielestäni myös kohtalaisen hyvin..

Desucon Frostbite was awesome this year! Thank yous belong to the great Conteam and the people participating. And I did finish my Rin cosplay! The wig came out so well in my opinion..

We also went to sell in HelLoCon with my friends. The program was interesting and the outfits the lolitas had were totaly delicious <3 Too bad I didn't realize to take any pictures...

En ole saanut cosplay asuani yhtään eteenpäin, saati sitten tehtyä tuotteita Taidekujalle. Voiko olla huonompaa ajoitusta olla kipeä?

Toivottavasti pääsen edes tapahtumaan, sillä muuten hotellihuone ja Taidekujapöytä on yhtä tyhjän kanssa. Ja en pääse pitämään 'Tuunaa Desupaitasi'- työpajaa!

I've been sick for nearly a week now and it doesn't seem to get any better.. And Desucon is next week!

I haven't been able to do my copslay at all nor the products I wanted to sell on Artists' Alley. Worst timing ever.

I hope I'll atleast make it to the convention because othervice my hotelroom and the Artists' Alley table are good for nothing. And I can't organize the 'Pimp your DesuShirt'- workshop!

Se kuka sanoi 'etsivä löytää' ei tiennyt mistä puhui.

Viime viikolla kahlatessani läpi UFF ja Fida liikkeitä cosplay materiaaleja varten en löytänyt yhtään mitään. Tai no-- En mitään cosplay suunnitelmiini sopivaa. Kuinka lannistavaa... Eihän Rin Okumuran vaatteet olleet edes suhteellisen vaikeat? Eräänä päivänä työpaikallani, Remake EkoDesign Oyssä, aloin tutkimaan omaa materiaali laatikkoani. Liekö intuitioni äänen käskemänä, mutta sieltä löytyi kun löytyikin puhtaan valkoinen, miesten kauluspaita!

Kotona siivotessani kangaslaatikoitani löysin 2kpl tummia kravatteja ja punaisen kankaan joka riittää juuri miekka pussiksi.

Vaatekaappini uumenista bongasin slimmit, mustat housut ja etsin samalla myös binderini.

Kaikki nämä minulla siis jo oli ja ne ovat vain pientä muokkausta vaille valmiina, odottamassa että löytäisin ne jälleen. Nyt pitäisi vain löytää takki ja kengät.. Ja väkertää ne kaikki ihanat pienet asusteet!

Last week when I was going trough Uff and Fida- stores for my cosplay materials I didn't find anything. Well-- not anything for my cosplay atleast. How depressing... But Rin Okumuras clothes aren't eaven that difficult? One day at my work, Remake Ekodesign Oy, I started to look trough my own material box. Maybe quided by the voice of my intuition, but from there I found clear white, mens dresshirt!

 At home as I cleaned my fabric boxes I found 2pcs of dark ties and a red fabric that was just enough to make a sword pouch.

From the depths of my closet I spotted slim, black jeans and searched for my binder aswell.

I had all these already, only a slight alteration away from being ready just waiting for me to find them again. Now I should just find jacket and the shoes.. And craft all the awesome little accessories!

Twitchy Switchy

Kuten arvata saattaa, olen (taas) päättänyt vaihtaa cosplay- hahmoni kuukautta ennen conia. Alkuperäisenä suunnitelmana oli siis cossata Prinssi Gumball- hahmoa Adventure Time nimisestä sarjasta. Nyt olen ajatellut että cossaisin Ao No Exorcist mangan päähenkilöä, Rin Okumuraa. Miksi mieleni on niin oikukas..?

As you might've guessed, I have (again) desided to change my cosplay month before the convention. My original plan was to cosplay Prince Gumball from the Adventure Time series. Now I tought I'd want to cosplay Rin Okumura from the Ao no Exorcist manga. Why do I have to have such a fickle mind..?

En ole päättänyt 100% kumpaa cossaisin.. Vai teenkö kenties molemmat? Tuskin.

Tiedän kuitenkin että haluan tehdä asuni mahdollisimman pitkälle kierrätysmateriaaleista. Ensi viikolla UFF- liikkeissä on tasarahapäivät joten suuntaan siis sinne materiaaleja metsästämään ja saa nähdä mitä löytyy~

I haven't decided 100% witch character I should cosplay.. Or if I'll simply do them both? Doubt it.

I do know that I want to make my outfit from recycled materials as much as I can. Next week UFF (recycling shop) is having a sale so I'll go there and search for my materials and we shall see what I find~
