Yukicon 2.0 feedback

I was at Yukicon 2.0 last weekend and I spent most of my Saturday at the Artists Alley as I had a table there. I was cosplaying Thranduil (again) from The Hobbit movies. I had started to make the armor Thranduil wore at the final Hobbit movie the battle of the five armies but unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish it due to a massive migraine that lasted for a day and I was feeling overly weak the next… Not nice but these things happen.
Olin Yukicon 2.0 viime viikonloppuna ja vietin suurimman osan lauantaista Taidekuja pöytäni ääressä. Cosplayasin (taas) Thranduilia Hobitti- elokuvista. Olin aloittanut tekemään haarniskaa jota Thranduil käyttää viimeisessä Hobitti elokuvassa Viiden armeijan taistelu mutta valitettavasti en saanut sitä valmiiksi massiivisen migreeni kohtauksen vuoksi joka kesti päivän verran. Seuraavana päivänä olin aivan liian voimattomana jatkaakseni cossin parissa… Ei kiva, mutta näin käy joskus.

The event in itself was awesome! This was the second Yukicon and they had stepped up with the organizing. The signposts were clearer this time around and the cloakroom worked swiftly. There were some issues about the programs getting stalled but that can happen and as they had seat tickets the queuing was unnecessary. I was a bit surprised the lacking of artists alley advertising. There was the Christmas calendar thingie, but that was it. I was thinking they’d put the info they requested in the programme but there wasn’t any and when I told some of my customers that there would be different artists tomorrow they were like Whaaaaaa??

The amount of vendors was a bit disappointing aswell and most of them and the same or similar items to sell. I had hoped there’d be more variety. I did buy myself a Monster Hunter cat figure surprise box. Love it!
Myyntipöytäläisten määrä oli myös hieman pettymys ja suurimmalla osalla oli vain samoja tai samankaltaisia tuotteita myynnissä. Olin toivonut hieman enemmän valinnanvaraa. Ostinpa itselleni kuitenkin Monster Hunter kissa yllätysboksin. Rakastan sitä!

And the cosplayers. The quality and amount of amazing cosplays dazzled me… And of course I didn’t get to take any decent pictures (not eaven from my own cosplay) as I was stuck by my alley table but atleast my dear Meg roamed around taking some photos. Artists Alley was bustling with people as usual and both Saturday and Sunday was filled with some seriously skilled artists. I mean WOW! It’s also nice that Yukicon decided to reserve places for beginner artists. I remember I was terrified for the first time I applied… Anyhow. I was a bit nervous this time around again as I also had stickers for sale with the usual jewelries and my very first zine: The misadventures of the Cyclop boy. Thank you all who purchased/ leafed through it!
Kuitenkin. Minua jännitti tällä kertaa myös, sillä olin ensikertaa myymässä tarroja korujen lisäksi, sekä ihka ensimmäistä omakustannettani: The Misadventures of the Cyclop boy. Kiitos kaikille jotka ostitte/ selasitte sitä!

All and all it was a great con with some minor issues that all new conventions share, and if they’ll organize it again I’ll definitely go!
Kaiken kaikkiaan con oli loistava pieniä ongelmia lukuun ottamatta joita kaikissa uusissa tapahtumissa on ja jos Yukicon järjestetään uudestaan, osallistun varmasti!

These will have to wait till the next convention... / Näiden täytyykin sitten odottaa seuraavaa tapahtumaa...

Desucon 2014 aftermath

Desucon 2014 is now behind and it’s time to review the weekend.

I cosplayed Thranduil- the elven king from the movie Hobbit- Desolation of Smaug and I cannot thank enough the people who came to take my photo or talk to me about my cosplay. I had almost decided to not to wear the outfit that day as I was quite tired and out of it. All the positive feedback really cheered me up and I eaven wore the outfit on Sunday aswell. Thank You!

Not forever alone~

I spent most of the Saturday behind my Artist Alley table. I usually share my table with Meg ( in forever alone cosplay on saturday), but this time we decided to get our own tables
since we both had so much stuff to sell.
I noticed that Desucon hadn’t really informed that the alley would open at 11:00 and not at 10:00 as it usually had, so it was quite a hassle organizing the table while people poured in... Oh well. I managed and the rest of the day went smoothly. Well -- the whole weekend went smoothly actually. I really enjoyed the overall good atmosphere, talkative people and amazing cosplays.
I also played my first multiplayer game of Monster Hunter ultimate on 3Ds at night in front of the karaoke room. I didn’t eaven realize to ask the persons name, but I had a lot of fun!
So if you happen to read this: I hope we get to play again :)

Usually I’m quite tired on Sunday especially since we had held our Teru teru bozu- workshop in the morning, but Meg (Photo Finish- MLP FIM on sunday) wanted us to go and get our pictures taken in the photobooth place and so we did. It was the second time I’ve ever been to one and these people really knew what they were doing.
Also the flea market worked more smoothly this year and that is a big +++++.

The My little pony cosplay Meg wore was actually made by me for Fanfest 2013, but I never got a picture of it so it was nice to finaly get that eaventough it wasn't me wearing it. It suited her better anyhow~

In conclusion:  Thanks to everyone for a successful weekend and I cannot wait for the next Desucon!

Thranduil says Thanks! I left this picture on the table as we left artist alley. Hope someone took it home..
